This story did have some intrigue and did end up with two happy sweet marriages. It did drag just a bit but mainly I was not a fan of Emma or Arthur whatsoever. Emma was rather obnoxious in my opinion. She knew she loved John and when John told her he loved her she fluffed it off. Really! Then she makes further obnoxious decisions and in my opinion had no one to blame but herself for what happened. She was no way worthy of John and I personally feel he was not too smart to still want to marry her after the things she said to him and the way she dealt with him. She was a prize for no one let alone John.As far as Arthur (and her) goes what kind of friend does not trust or believe what a close friend says over someone they do not know personally. These three characters in the book was a bit too much for my taste.
